Marco Rossi and Frank Nazar III contracts

The Marco Rossi contract is a big win-win for both sides, I think this will be good for Rossi to prove himself as for Minnesota it doesn't quite put an anchor on the salary cap. What I also like about it is if Rossi wanted to be traded away from Minnesota, they'd likely be able to move the contract easier while also getting a lot out of a trade. If they are to trade Rossi, I see it being similar to the Kevin Fiala trade which is good for Minnesota getting depth. But this is something we'll need to check in on later, but this temporarily shuts down the Rossi trade rumours.  So, one thing about the Nazar contract that struck my eye is how Chicago is preparing for long-term contention which is what I love. As much as I am a fan of the old Chicago Blackhawks team, I notice this team is completely different and nothing like the Blackhawks in their dynasty/Kane-Toews era. What Chicago did wrong then was not plan ahead, and this contract has a lot of mixed views. But the reason fo...

Bridgeport Islanders relocation rumours

Today it had caught my eye that the Bridgeport Islanders could be potentially relocating to Hamilton, Ontario. Now, this is eye-opening to me because I don't know why the Islanders would look into doing this. I mean, what would make sense is if they're to sell their affiliate, they could just partner with the Chicago Wolves; as I do believe they'd be more than a great fit and the airport is easier to access, while also not being rivals with their division teams. I just don't see an American team being an affiliate with a Canadian market.  As for Hamilton, I think either Toronto or Ottawa should move either the Marlies or Senators to Hamilton. I mean, I believe Toronto's second NHL team should be brought to Hamilton, given they're a generous distance from one another. But I don't see the point of moving the Marlies, but I think they're doing this for the growth of the PWHL as it's been rumoured before that the Marlies would be moving to Hamilton. I al...

The Winnipeg Jets need their history back

What I can't stand is seeing 'Jets 1.0' or 'Jets 2.0' and probably my biggest pet peeve in hockey. In the past the Jets had some memorable things in not just the NHL, but in hockey history. Most notably when Teemu Selanne broke the rookie record for most goals in a season previously set by the best goal scorer in NHL history, Mike Bossy. But in 1996, the Winnipeg Jets had relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, bringing the history with them. Now, the thing about this is when True North Sports and Entertainment and David Thomson bought the Atlanta Thrashers bringing them to Winnipeg, the Jets name was brought back. Except they took the Thrashers history with them, honouring the Dan Snyder Memorial Trophy even going as far to have Connor Hellebuyck keep the number which the Thrashers decided to suspend; the Jets put a patch in Hellebuyck's jersey honouring Dan Snyder.  So, it is also rumoured Atlanta is returning, and I think the Jets would happily give their history back...

What is wrong with the Buffalo Sabres?

They haven't made the playoffs since 2011. Their captain was Jason Pominville, and their star players were Thomas Vanek and Ryan Miller. Tyler Myers was their best defenseman. Once the 2013-14 season began, it was anchors down to the bottom. And they had more chances than the Oilers to be good, and why are they still failing? I think the short answer is the Pegula's. I don't think it has to do with the city of Buffalo, in fact I think it's an underrated place to play given you're near great lakes and parks, including Niagara Falls which is one of the wonders of the world. Also low-key a great sports town where the practice facility is near the arena, that also includes one of the nicest dressing rooms. Sure it can get snowy, but it's not as cold as Winnipeg. Speaking of the Jets, their ownership shows more commitment to building towards always being a great hockey team. For the Pegula's, they're more focused on football but this isn't about football....

Team Canada hockey invitees - Men and Women's

So today, they released the players invited to Team Canada for the Men's and Women's Hockey teams. We're going to start with the Women's hockey team. Forwards are Emily Clark, Sarah Fillier, Jennifer Gardener, Julia Gosling, Brianne Jenner, Caitlin Kraemer, Emma Maltais, Hannah Miller, Kristen O'Neill, Sarah Nurse, Marie-Philip Poulin, Danielle Serdachny, Natalie Spooner, Laura Stacey, Blayre Turnbull, and Daryl Watts. Defense consists of Erin Ambrose, Renata Fast, Nicole Gosling, Sophie Jaques, Jocelyne Larocque, Chloe Primerano, Ella Shelton, Kati Tabin, Claire Thompson, and Micah Zandee-Hart. Goaltenders are Ann-Renee Desbiens, Eve Gascon, Emerance Maschmeyer, and Kayle Osbourne. So, lots of good players have been left off most notably Jessie Eldridge who I believe could be a great addition later on. Corinne Schroeder was another who if you ask me is one of the most underrated goaltenders in the PWHL and I think both those players are going to turn a lot of heads...
