Why I think Connor McDavid should be traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning

I really do hope he stays in Edmonton, but I think not only he's the most deserving in the NHL to win a cup and I know he would like to stay with the Oilers, but I think this team would be the best fit for him long-term. Now, I'm not writing this because he praised Jon Cooper. I am writing this because I don't think the Oilers are winning the cup anytime soon due to how they're so poorly ran. I actually had this very thought as to where McDavid ends up if the Oilers continue to fail, because he's totally not to blame. I mean, he won the Conn Smythe in 2024 for crying out loud he and Leon brought them to game seven. 

So, the other two teams I see McDavid going to if not Edmonton are either the New York Rangers or Toronto Maple Leafs. Now, I think if he gets traded to Tampa Bay he is likely to win the cup and I think it makes the most sense out of all the teams in the NHL. I see him being an excellent fit there but the other thing too is what would it take to get him from Edmonton to Tampa Bay via trade?

If Connor McDavid does get traded to Tampa Bay, mark my works they're winning a Stanley Cup. But, you also might think if Draisaitl joins him after signing a big fat extension with the Oilers. I would also imagine a third team may need to get involved because the first thing I thought about is on Tampa who stays and who goes?

And first we start with point A being McDavid. And Point B being what would head to Edmonton. Speaking of Point, I imagine Brayden Point stays, as does Brandon Hagel, Nikita Kucherov, Victor Hedman, and Andrei Vasilevsky just to name a few. 

But I would think to have the Oilers interested in hearing I would offer Conor Geekie, Sam O'Reilly, Erik Cernak, three first-round picks and three second-round picks. 

And I would also trade Jake Guentzel to make cap space, don't know where because he has a NTC because if not him they'd might need to trade away Anthony Cirelli and if Cooper had him on Team Canada there's no way he's letting him go. Another thing that needs to be noted on the side is Leon Draisaitl could also be traded to Tampa if McDavid ends up there. 

But I am predicting that McDavid ends up a member of the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Dakota Joshua traded to Toronto

Where do I begin... maybe that I wrote how he was one of the underrated players in the NHL. Except the thing is it's no longer Vancouver. Now, for all I know maybe Dakota Joshua wanted out, but this return is beyond brutal and unacceptable by the Canucks. If I'm trading Dakota Joshua away I'm expecting something as high as a second-round pick and a player with a good contract.  As for Toronto, this is an excellent pick-up for the Leafs and this is going to improve their penalty kill a lot which in my opinion is something that could use work this off-season. Toronto is the clear winner of the trade.

The curious case of Elias Pettersson

I think Elias Pettersson is still a good player who can return to his full form one day and still has potential to be an offensive threat in the NHL. Based on what I've seen he does work hard, but there's parts he needs to learn to improve his game. He was well on track once upon a time, but I think locker room issues soured things for him last season. It may take one or two seasons, but I think he has a similar comeback Marcus Naslund did.  Pettersson had an outstanding season before they brought JT Miller in. In Miller's defense, he was not one for a young core but needed to be on a team he could do a lot more on. PWHL Draft First-Round Recap and Predicting the 2026 PWHL Season

 The third ever PWHL Draft had happened recently held at the Hard Rock Casino and Resort in Ottawa, Ontario, which was special considering they introduced two new teams: PWHL Vancouver and PWHL Seattle, both of which held the final picks of the draft.  1.
