Time to talk about Caroline Harvey

I find quite interesting is how the best female hockey players come from places where it's not common for most NHLers -- or any at all -- to originate from. And she comes from Salem, New Hampshire, which has you question what got her into hockey? But she either grew up a Manchester Monarchs or a Boston Bruins fan -- or both.

Laila Edwards is from Cleveland and you'd think she grew up cheering for the Lake Erie/Cleveland Monsters along with the Columbus Blue Jackets. And these two ladies along with Lacey Eden and Kirsten Simms are ripping it up with the Badgers. And I think all of them will be taken high at the PWHL Draft. Edwards did make the USA Women's Olympic Team, but Eden didn't but what is fascinating is how Edwards finished third in scoring.

Caroline Harvey tied the Women's Olympic scoring with teammate Megan Keller at nine points but led the entire tournament with seven assists and is favoured to go first overall. She is my personal favourite to be the first overall pick in this years PWHL Draft. I don't always say this about young stars, but she will be the player to turn a franchise around right away and be the future face of US Women's Hockey. Before even knowing which PWHL team she will play for has won an Olympic Gold Medal, but what adds the cherry on top is how she was Tournament MVP. Also leading all defenders in scoring with her elite offensive production, can play a ton of minutes on the ice while putting up a generous plus-minus. Even this year it isn't the best plus minus and the worst, but she has been so good for the Wisconsin Badgers all four years that if you add all the plus-minus totals she'd still have a higher plus total than her career points in the NCAA. That is when you gotta consider how much of a difference she'll make when she enters the PWHL.
