My case on Steven Stamkos

Well, it's no secret Stamkos has been quite disappointing in Nashville, but I still do believe he's a good player as he's been quite dedicated to the game of hockey. He has had many injuries but continues to play. I do believe he's truly a Hall-of-Famer, mainly because he did lead the league in goals and captain a team to a Stanley Cup... twice!

Now, I think he's been a very bad fit with Nashville as he doesn't play their style of game. I find if he went to a team that plays his style of game and can give him the assets he needs that he will indeed succeed. The one thing I found weird about Stamkos once he's exited his prime is he's mostly a forward. Not a left-wing, centre, right-wing, just a forward. I think that's quite valuable because he can step right in. But I think he and Nashville need to move on. But I do believe he deserves another shot because I think he can still play in the NHL and put up reasonable numbers.

The teams I would see Stamkos playing next are:

1. Vegas Golden Knights - I think this scenario is likely because he could help them be a competitive team if you don't put all the responsibilities on him.

2. Chicago Blackhawks - I think he'd be great there and would fit in with that team. Adds a veteran presence with a lot of experience within a new era of Blackhawks.

3. Dallas Stars - I think he'd compliment veterans and young players alike.

5. Detroit Red Wings - A reunion with Yzerman would be quite fitting.

6. Tampa Bay Lightning - If he wants to return to the city that he did big things with and retire there he could take a discount with their cap crunch. He also is known and respected by the team so I don't see why not.

7. Toronto Maple Leafs - Wouldn't be my first choice, but I think it's fitting he goes to his hometown and lives the full dream.

But if I'm an NHL GM I'm offering him one year at $1.5M with bonuses.
