Ten most underrated players in the NHL

We always talk about superstars, but there are hidden gems in the NHL as well. Some people have different answers, but I have ones that will be off the grid a little bit. Some fans should be paying attention to more when the stars aren't on the ice. But I won't be mentioning players who recently got a lot of points, some would say an answer would be Mark Scheifele, Roope Hintz, but this is more of some players some don't talk about enough who I think would make a William Karlsson-like impact if an NHL team did give them a chance. But if I was an NHL GM and was doing an expansion draft these would be players I would try and get my hands on.

1. Cole Perfetti - Winnipeg Jets - Hasn't cracked more than fifty points yet, but towards the end of the year he showed people what kind of player he can be and showed if Ehlers left he was able to replace him. Some remember the goal that saved the Jets season in game seven, tying it up and sending it to overtime. But if he was given the opportunity to step up for the Winnipeg Jets, he'd likely put up more points.

2. Kiefer Sherwood - Vancouver Canucks - He finally got to show what he was made of this year with the Canucks putting up forty points in seventy-eight games. He put up such good numbers in the AHL as he bounced around with many hockey teams, and this year it showed how he can be effective when it comes to production and physicality. I think he showed great chemistry with Elias Pettersson and with Boeser returning to the Canucks I think if they were to do a Sherwood-Pettersson-Boeser line it could be a redemption line for the Canucks.

3. Dakota Joshua - Vancouver Canucks - Joshua does all the little things and everything right. Doesn't entirely have offense on his mind, but if he needs to be the guy to put up points he will. I also think he's one of the most effective players in the NHL and has the size to go up against any player. But one thing I love about Dakota Joshua's game is how competitive he can be.

4. Cody Glass - New Jersey Devils - I did write an article about him previously. If he's given a bigger role on an NHL team and be offensively responsible, his potential will really show. But sadly he's bounced around the league, and I think New Jersey is a great fit for him and I think he needs time to grow into the role and get comfortable. I think he's got lots of NHL seasons in him. But there's a reason he was not just the sixth overall pick, but also the first ever pick in Vegas Golden Knights history.

5. Morgan Barron - Winnipeg Jets - A fourth-liner on the Winnipeg Jets who they acquired from the New York Rangers in the Andrew Copp trade. He's been a big part for the Winnipeg Jets than most hockey fans realize but has mostly been on the fourth-line but also taken charge of that position. He has a big size but can also do a lot of the little things that lots of players don't count as statistics. Also a clutch player and nothing stops him from playing, not even getting cut my a skate in the face. That's why I think hockey fans need to give him a lot more attention.

6. Kaeden Korczak - Vegas Golden Knights - A sizeable defenseman who I think is going to be a full-time NHLer starting next season. What nobody talks about is how good is plus-minus is as he only had ten assists and was plus fifteen. He's still twenty-four, and he played junior in Kelowna which has developed some of the best defenseman in the NHL or ones with long careers. But I think in two or three seasons the league will finally notice him.

7. Michael Rasmussen - Detroit Red Wings - He is a solid bottom-six NHLer, but if he's given a chance to be the number one centre, he can be that guy to step up right into those big shoes. Surprisingly a super effective player who does a lot of the little things who can also be an excellent leader. He's another one of those players I see being a great coach one day.

8. Michael Eyssimont - Boston Bruins - He's shown to be a player who can step up offensively and stand up for his teammates while playing an aggressive game. I think if he was to play with a superstar on a team that's cap-strapped he's that guy. I think if he's on a line with Pastrnak now he's in Boston his point production will go a heck of a lot up.

9. Urho Vaakanainen - New York Rangers - Sure he's not the offensive type, but he can play in all situations. He'd be great to pair with a pro-offensive defenseman. I mean, you pair him with a guy with Cale Makar he'd be more appreciated by the league. He's never had the opportunity to show that yet. He has a big impact on the ice and can be the guy to help teams win games.

10. Collin Miller - Winnipeg Jets - He has been a solid player throughout his career and has been proven in previous years to step up in a big way. Some forget in the 2017-18 season he put up fifty-one points, and has been effective on the blue-line with Vegas, Boston, Dallas, And Winnipeg, wasn't his fault Buffalo can't get it right. He also has incredible IQ on the ice and doesn't make mistakes players getting paid a lot more do.
