Making sense of Jonathan Toews playing for the Winnipeg Jets
Jonathan Toews is looking to make a comeback in the NHL. There have been rumours swirling around that he may return to Chicago, or Anaheim to be reunited with Joel Quenneville. Now, he is from Winnipeg and has stated interest in playing for his hometown as he returned to Winnipeg every off-season. Also, bringing the cup to the city after winning it each time. But Winnipeg could use a player like him on the dot. A veteran superstar from Winnipeg, and with Lowry out to start the season could easily take his place as a leader. But when Lowry returns healthy, Toews may play a 2C/3C/4C role while helping guide the future Winnipeg Jets.
But from the looks of it he may sign a tryout contract with the Jets considering he hasn't played hockey for a few seasons, but I believe he could still play in the NHL. Because for me as someone who is not only a hockey fan but has watched a lot of hockey, the bottom line is: can you play in the NHL? It's never about being good enough, you need to able to play.
